Halsey brings decades of experience as a trial lawyer, business litigator, and negotiator, representing clients in some of their most challenging disputes. Throughout his career, he has handled a broad range of business and commercial matters, including business disputes, real estate litigation, crisis management, employment departures, legal ethics, and business divorces. His extensive courtroom and negotiation experience gives him a practical understanding of both the legal and business realities that parties face when conflicts arise.
What sets Halsey apart, however, is not just his experience; it is the way he approaches conflict.
“I listen well,” Halsey says. “One of the challenges in mediation is deciding whether you’re going to be evaluative or simply facilitate the conversation. As a lawyer, you’re naturally evaluating every issue. But I also have a strong facilitator side.”
Throughout his career, Halsey has often found himself helping clients achieve something beyond a legal victory.
“I often come into cases where the goal isn’t simply to win the litigation,” he explains. “It’s to de-escalate the emotion and build respect with the other side. I’ve developed a good track record of doing that because I genuinely like people. I understand that to build trust, you have to be trustworthy.”
That philosophy aligns closely with Henning’s belief that successful mediation requires more than legal knowledge; it requires the ability to earn credibility with everyone in the room and guide difficult conversations toward practical solutions.
In addition to his litigation practice, Halsey has dedicated significant time to public service, pro bono work, leadership within the legal profession, and service in attorney discipline matters.
