knowledge to continually improve the dispute resolution industry. Our public
courses are open to individual lawyers, claims representatives, HR professionals,
managers, and others. Custom-designed training is also available for law firms,
insurers, corporations, and government agencies.
Participants will learn how to mediate a variety of disputes including employment, business, and personal injury. By engaging in numerous role plays, participants will gain the skills necessary to become successful mediators, and an understanding of how to effectively represent clients in mediation. Civil Mediation consists of two classes: Civil Mediation and Mediation Practicum.
Both classes ('Civil Mediation' and 'Mediation Practicum') must be taken to satisfy Georgia's requirement for those who want to register as a mediator.
Course 1 of 2
Civil Mediation
This is a 3.5 day course for those who want to be mediators, as well as for those who want to learn how to effectively represent clients in mediation. Participants will learn how to mediate a variety of disputes including employment, business, and personal injury. By engaging in numerous role plays, participants will gain the skills necessary to become successful mediators. This class is designed to meet the basic training requirement for those who want to be registered as a civil mediator in Georgia.

Course 2 of 2
Mediation Practicum
Prerequisite: Civil Mediation must be completed before enrolling, at Henning or any other GODR-approved program.
This is a 1.5 day class designed to satisfy Georgia's requirement that those who want to register as a mediator must observe 5 mediations conducted by experienced mediators prior to registration and after completion of the Civil Mediation training. Through the use of videotaped mediations, participants will observe experienced mediators resolve a variety of disputes, including employment and commercial conflicts. An experienced mediator will be present to lead discussions and answer questions.

Arbitration

This one-day course is for those who want to become arbitrators, as well as attorneys who represent clients in arbitration. You will learn state and federal arbitration law, arbitration procedure, how to draft arbitration awards, arbitrator skills, ethics, and arbitration advocacy. The course is designed to meet the training requirement for Georgia arbitrator registration.

In addition to learning the mediation process and techniques, participants receive instruction in family law, use of the Child Support calculator, financial issues, ethics, parenting plan guidelines, and domestic violence.
Both classes ('Domestic Relations Mediation' and 'Domestic Relations Practicum') must be taken to satisfy Georgia's requirement for those who want to register as a domestic mediator.

Domestic Relations Mediation
This is a 5 day course for those who want to mediate cases involving divorce, custody, and other family law issues. For those who want to register as a domestic mediator in Georgia, the prerequisites are: a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college, Civil Mediation training, and Mediation Practicum. After completing this class, take the Domestic Practicum to meet the requirements for registration.

Prerequisite: Domestic Relations Mediation must be completed before enrolling, at Henning or any other GODR-approved program.
This is a 1.5 day course designed to meet the observation and co-mediation requirements for registration as a domestic mediator in Georgia. Participants will observe an experienced neutral mediate a divorce case and participate in several co-mediations. Domestic Relations Mediation training is a prerequisite for this course for those who want to be registered.

Probate Mediation

This comprehensive two-day program combines in-depth probate education with a practicum, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to mediate probate cases effectively. Our instructors exemplify Henning's dedication to offering high-quality training delivered by respected, seasoned professionals.
Barbara Koll has over 37 years of experience at the Fulton County Probate Court, serving as Senior Staff Attorney, Judicial Hearing Officer, and Chief Clerk/Court Administrator. Pat Siuta, an accomplished trial attorney, brings 30 years of experience as a mediator, arbitrator, and case evaluator, and helped modernize Minnesota's probate law before relocating to Georgia.
The program includes two hours of pre-training homework and, upon completion, allows participants to register with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR) in probate mediation.
Prerequisite required: Civil Mediation and Mediation Practicum are prerequisites for the Probate Mediation course.

Patricia A. "Pat" Siuta
Lead Instructor · Mediator, Arbitrator & Former Trial Attorney
Pat Siuta brings 25 years of experience as a mediator, arbitrator, and case evaluator, built on an accomplished career as a trial attorney. She has handled complex, multi-party mediations involving as many as 65 participants and trained thousands of mediators and arbitrators worldwide: judges, lawyers, and professionals from a wide range of backgrounds. Most of Henning's own neutrals were trained under her guidance.
She has taught at law schools and a university conflict management program, served as faculty for bar associations across the region, and provided training nationally for more than 30 years.
Barbara brings over 37 years at the Fulton County Probate Court, where she served as Senior Staff Attorney, Judicial Hearing Officer, and Chief Clerk / Court Administrator. Few practitioners in Georgia have spent as much time inside the probate process, and even fewer can speak to how it actually plays out day to day in front of a judge.
She co-teaches the Probate Mediation course alongside Pat, pairing decades of courtroom-level probate expertise with Henning's mediation methodology. Students get the legal landscape and the procedural realities together: what really gets contested, where settlements break down, and how a skilled mediator moves a probate dispute toward resolution before it consumes the estate it's meant to divide.
Ann Clanton
Ann Clanton is an experienced mediator and mediation trainer, with a unique background that spans business leadership, judicial court programs, and elite international athletics. As a former athlete, Ann brings the same world-class discipline, focus, and pressure-tested resilience to the mediation table that it takes to compete on the world's biggest stage.
With extensive experience resolving disputes across diverse subject areas, Ann serves as a trusted neutral for court-annexed mediation programs and private cases alike. She has also shared her mediation expertise by training several thousand people from a variety of backgrounds to mediate.

Pat and Barbara are joined throughout the year by working mediators and arbitrators from Henning's panel: former judges, trial attorneys, and subject-matter specialists who walk students through the kinds of disputes they actually resolve every week. It's not a guest-lecture circuit; it's the same neutrals who handle Henning's caseload, sitting in the room with the next generation of mediators and arbitrators they'll one day work alongside.
For students, that means real role-plays led by people who've run the real thing, candid debriefs on what actually moves a case, and a network that begins forming before the certificate is even issued. It's one of the quiet reasons so many of Georgia's most respected neutrals trace their training back to Henning.
The following terms govern all cancellations, rescheduling requests, and refunds for Henning training programs. By registering, the registrant agrees to these terms.
Full Refund Eligibility
If notice of cancellation is given 14 calendar days or more in advance of the scheduled training, the registrant’s payment may be refunded. All refunds are issued by check. Outside of this window, no refunds will be issued.
Rescheduling Options
A registrant who cancels between 8 and 13 days before the training may reschedule once to another available training date at no additional charge. A registrant who cancels between 1 and 7 days before the training may reschedule once to another available date for a $175 fee.
No-Show Policy
If a registrant fails to attend or notify Henning on the first day of the scheduled class, the registration will be automatically cancelled. Such registrations cannot be transferred or rescheduled, and no refund will be issued.
Cancellation of Training Program by Henning
To meet program requirements, sufficient enrollment is necessary to conduct a training. In the rare event that a training date lacks adequate enrollment, or Henning must otherwise cancel a scheduled program, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and may elect either to transfer to another available training date or to receive a full refund of fees paid. Refunds are issued by check.
